Graduate Choice:School Peer Group and Ascribed Difference——A Multilevel Analysis Based on BCSPS Data
The influence factors and their mechanism on postgraduate education opportunities are not fully discussed in the present study.Applying Beijing College Students Panel Survey data and multilevel analysis model,we find that college students'graduate choices are influenced by family background,their own characters and school peer group factors.Among them,school peer group not only have a direct impact on the graduate choice of college students,but also indirectly influence the action intensity of academic performance on the willingness to postgraduate education by moderation effect.In terms of subdivision,the choice of domestic study is mainly related to individual factors and peer group factors,while the choice of overseas study is mainly influenced by family conditions.These findings can provide a reference for further understanding of the behavior of family education investment and the role of school in the attainment of postgraduate education opportunities.
