Research on Relationship Between Abnormal Precipitation in Yellow River Basin and Bohai, Huanghai Sea Surface Temperature, Abnormal Circulation and Runoff
Based on the CPC/NCEP monthly precipitation data during 1948-2004 and NCEP monthly geopotential height data at 500hPa and wind data at 850hPa, the spatial and temporal patterns of Yellow River Basin precipitation and abnormal circulation is analyzed by using EOF, wavelet analysis, synthesis analysis and correlation analysis. 1950-2002 monthly runoff data at Lijin Gauge is used to analyze the relationship between runoff and precipitation. NOAA 1982-2004 monthly sea surface temperature is used to analyze the relationship between precipitation in July and sea surface temperature in March. The result shows that; the spatial pattern is consistency in the whole basin, south-north distribution, east-west distribution, the major cycle of the precipitation is 2~4years. The runoff is closely related to yearly precipitation and the first mode. The water transport in Yellow River basin is affected by southwest airflow from the Bay of Bengal and west pacific high. When the west pacific high locates westerly, it is not propitious to rainfall in Yellow River basin, the development of trough over Balkhash Lake is propitious to rainfall in Yellow River basin. The sea surface temperature of Bohai and Huanghai sea can be a reference for Yellow River precipitation.
