Safe Maneuvering for VLOC Entering and Leaving Lianyungang Port
As an important international port.Lianyungang has opened a 300,000DWT deep-water channel, which will allow more Very Large Ore Carriers(VLOC)to berth.Due to the unique size and maneuverability of VLOCs,any accidents that occur in the port area can have unimaginable consequences for both the ship and the port.Based on the experience of captain and pilot entering and leaving the port multiple times, introduce the hydrometeorology and waterway environment of the port, and provides suggestions for VLOC ship's routing, anchorage selection, anchoring operations, berthing and unberthing operations, particularly focusing on key points during the arrival process such as berth preparation, developing an berthing plan, speed control, navigational characteristics in channel, and detailed operational considerations during critical operations.Maneuvering characteristics and key operational considerations when berthing and unberthing VLOCs are also discussed in detail,in order to provide reference for similar ships and improve the safety of ships entering and leaving the port for navigation, berthing and unberthing operation.
