Insulators play the role of maintaining the insulation of wires from the ground in the power system, and their importance is self-evident.For power practitioners, the safe and reliable operation of the power system is"the people's wish."However, when the insulator reaches zero value,a series of accidents such as flashover and string drop will occur. In this paper, the bell jar insulators and double umbrella insulators commonly used in ultra-high voltage systems are simulated and analyzed from the dimension of electric field distribution.By detecting electric fields in different directions, the distortion characteristics of zero-value insulators are obtained.By changing the detection distance, the reasonable range of zero-value insulator electric field detection is analyzed. The electric field distribution of insulators with and without grading rings is further compared to explore the influence of grading rings on the local electric field. This achievement facilitates power practitioners to understand the electric field distribution of ultra-high voltage insulators and promotes the zero-value insulator electric field detection method.
