The exposed fixed-joint steel column foot transfers the internal force at the lower end of the steel column to the foundation through the base plate, which is an important joint of steel structure, and is widely used in long-span steel structure plant. The calculation of base plate in the prior technology is based on the limit state method of bearing capacity, and the length of the compression zone of base plate needs to be solved by one cubic equation or determined by finding chart. The calculation process is complicated, resulting in low design efficiency. In order to solve the shortcomings of the prior art,a method for calculating the column sole plate of an exposed steel column rigidly connected to the column base is proposed. It considers two states of small eccentricity and large eccentricity of the column sole plate, and is based on the allowable stress method and at the same time according to the plastic yield strength theory, assuming that the foundation reaction force is evenly distributed, and adopts the plastic section modulus to calculate the calculated thickness of the column sole plate under the combined action of the standard value of axial force and the standard value of bending moment. The new technology can not only greatly simplify the calculation workload and improve design efficiency, but also optimize the calculated thickness of the column sole plate and reduce engineering costs. The new technology has good promotion value and can be used as a reference for similar projects.
