Numerical simulation and programming implementation of random road roughness
Road roughness is one of the main factors affecting the vibration of vehicle-road coupling system. In order to analyze the amplitude characteristics of road roughness sequences and their varia-tions with road grades,a numerical algorithm for generating random road roughness sequences is es-tablished by using the trigonometric series method and implemented through MATLAB programming. The random road roughness sequences of four grades(A,B,C and D)are simulated by using the al-gorithm and corresponding calculation programs.Besides, the amplitude characteristics are studied as well. The results show that the power spectral density of random road roughness sequences proposed in the study is in good agreement with that of the corresponding level of road surface in the specifica-tions.The amplitude of road roughness increases non-linearly with the decrease of road grade, and the variance gradually increases. This indicates that the driving experience of vehicle deteriorates as road grade decreases. The research results can provide data reference for the random dynamic re-sponse and stability analysis of vehicle driving on the uneven roads.
