Comparison of performance and shock absorption of hydraulic frame structures under extremely large earthquake and rare earthquake
To explore the damage characteristics of hydraulic frame structures under extremely large and rare earthquake and the improvement effects of buckling-restrained braces(BRB)on their seismic performance,a hydraulic frame structure of a project is taken as an example, and a finite ele-ment model is established by using MSC Marc. Therefore, the performance of hydraulic frame struc-tures and the improvement effects of BRB on the seismic performance of the structure are compared and analyzed under the 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Turkey and rare earthquake. The results are as follows:(1)Compared with rare earthquake, the floor displacement,inter-story displacement angle and girder deflection of hydraulic frame structure under the 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Turkey in-crease significantly. The new plastic hinge is added at the beam-column joints, which intensifies the structural damage.(2)BRB has an obvious effect on the seismic performance of hydraulic frame structures under rare earthquake. The deflection of opening and closing girder meets the limit value of the code.(3)BRB is not effective in improving the seismic performance of hydraulic frame struc-ture under the 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Turkey. The research results can provide data reference for the utilization of BRB to improve the seismic performance of hydraulic frame structures under rare earthquake.
