Effect of hydrogen content in the melt on surface bubbles of aluminum alloy billets
The effect of hydrogen content in the melt on surface bubbles of 6063 and 7003 aluminum alloy billets was studied on the basis of production practice. The surface bubble structure was observed through an optical microscope and the bubble components were ana-lyzed with and the equipped energy spectrum analyzer. The results show that the bubble composition is the same as that of the aluminum matrix. The bubble defect on the surface of the billets is caused by the melt overflow behavior introduced by the hydrogen evolution dur-ing solidification of aluminum alloy.Reducing hydrogen content in the melt can effectively improue the surface bubble defects of aluminum alloy in production.
