Determination of element content in aluminum alloy by X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy
The relationship between the intensity of XRF(X-ray fluorescence spectra)characteristic peak and element content can be used to determine metal element types and contents of aluminum alloys.XRFs of standard samples with known element content were measured and the linear relation ship curves between XRF peaks and element content were plotted based on element characteristic spectrum. The results show that XRF method is accu-rate and sensitive to detect element content.Detection limit of Cu can reach 3 × 10-6,and that of Ti which has relatively low sensitivity can reach 16 × 10-6.The content of various metal elements in the aluminum alloy samples for heat dissipation was detected by XRF method, and the measurement results of Cu and Zn were consistent with those obtained by la-ser ablation spark induced breakdown spectroscopy.
