Cause analysis on base cracks of EMU anti-snake shock absorbers
Crack defects have been found during routine maintenance of EMU anti-snake shock absorbers. Therefore, the microstructure of the defect area was observed and analyzed with a the microscope, scanning electron microscope, and energy spectrum analysis. The re-sults show that there were multiple intergranular corrosion defects near the cracks, mainly with fatigue cracking along the grain boundary, accompanied by stress corrosion cracking as well. The cracks on the corroded fracture interface may originate from corrosion cracking, while the uncorroded fracture interface exhibits fatigue-failure-cracking behavior.
