High-temperature deformation behavior of 6016T4 aluminum alloy under reversion ageing state
6016 aluminum alloy has a significant natural ageing effect at room tempera-ture,which seriously affects sheet formability. The yield strength of 6016 aluminum alloy in the stable state after natural ageing is 146 MPa,which is a 57%increase over the strength of the alloy in the water-quenched(W)temper.Increasing deformation temperature can significantly reduce strength and improve formability. The high-temperature deformation be-havior in reversion ageing state was investigated with a Gleeble thermo-mechanical simulator system.Yield strength at 260 ℃ is only 78 MPa,close to that of 6016W aluminum alloy at room temperature. However, the temperature gradient due to the water-cooled grips results in a heterogeneous strain field during the deformation process.More accurate mechanical properties can be obtained with a effective gauge length of 15 mm.The study provides exper-imental data for the development of new standards for thermo-mechanical tests in the future.
