Effect of solution and aging on microstructure and properties of 2219-T6 aluminum alloy MIG welded joint
The welding test of 2219T6 aluminum alloy was carried out by MIG welding, and the microstructure and properties of welded and heat-treated joints were analyzed respec-tively.The results show that the mechanical properties of the welded joint are much lower than those of the base material, the tensile strength, yield strength and elongation of the joint are 257 MPa,150 MPa and 5%,respectively,and the welding coefficient is only 0.58.Af-ter solution aging treatment, the joint structure changes obviously, the grain coarsens and the network eutectic structure disappears, while at the same time, the high-density dispersed and acicular θ"-Al2Cu phase precipitates in the weld zone, improving the joint performance. The tensile strength, yield strength and elongation of the joint are 439 MPa,325 MPa and 11%,respectively,and the welding coefficient increases by 0.42.
