The impact of public health crisis on shared bicycles——Take COVID-19 for example
Bike-sharing is a sustainable form of public transport, which has an important role in improving the resilience of urban transport networks, especially in the event of a public crisis. The outbreak of the COVID-19 in 2020 gradually triggered the thinking about the relationship between public health crisis and public transportation. Therefore, this study focuses on the role of bike-sharing in improving the resilience of urban transportation systems during public health crises, and explore the use rate and temporal and spatial changes of bike-sharing during the COVID-19 pandemic.Based on the defects in the current research on the travel mode of bike-sharing users during the novel coronavirus pneumonia, such as weak representative data samples, low coverage rate, and difficult to grasp the travel needs of users, study uses the GIS spatial analysis to simulate user travel needs and analyze differ-ent user needs for using bike-sharing during the epidemic. The result shows that the frequency of use of bike-sharing is very high during the COVID-19 pandemic and the occurrence of brief epidemic events will promote the use of bike-sharing.The study concluded that commuting to work, going out in the neighborhood, and sports in parks were the main purposes of using bike-sharing during the COVID-19 pandemic, while the secondary purposes were commercial leisure activities, and the frequency of other purposes was relatively low.
