Research progress on improving the properties of sand by microbial solidification technology
Based on the solidification principle of microbial-induced calcite precipitation(MICP)technolo-gy,this study summarizes and analyzes the key factors influencing the solidification effect,revealing the impact pat-terns of microbial solidification on the properties of sandy soil.According to related literature,using MICP to in-duce calcium carbonate precipitation can significantly improve the shear strength of sandy soil.The calcium carbon-ate produced by MICP fills the soil pores,reducing porosity,increasing compaction,and enhancing impermeabili-ty.Finally,by incorporating case studies of microbial solidification applications,the study discusses the existing challenges in research on improving the performance of sandy soils or other soils through microbial solidification,and provides insights into future development directions.
