With the rapid economic growth and the advent of urbanization,a large-scale life revolution has taken place in contemporary China.The rapidly rising urban new middle class has become the representative of the new lifestyle,and the revolution led by them is not only manifested in the change of daily basic needs,but also in the shaping of the new urban life.The gyms that have blossomed in major cities are not only functional places for physical exercise,but have also become an important space for the middle-class people to show their identity,build their lifestyles,and obtain emotional support,and have formed a new urban folklore due to the significance they have given to them.Based on this,from the perspective of"life revolution",we re-examine the commercial gym,a space where the middle-class people are the main consumers,and analyze the characteristics and significance of fitness consumption as a new urban folklore,which is important for further exploring the broad connotation of the life revolution,and for understanding the urban life in the new era of China.
