The release of the Professional Competence Standards for International Chinese Language Teachers(hereinafter referred to as the Stan-dards)is one of the landmark achievements in the construction of the standards system in the field of international Chinese language education,which is of great significance to the development of international Chinese language teachers in the new era.This study reveals and analyses the traditional Chi-nese cultural viewpoint of"Dao"underlying the Standards,and constructs a"Dao-based"model for the professional development of international Chi-nese language teachers,i.e.,"enjoying Dao","learning Dao","discussing Dao","enlightening Dao","practicing Dao","seeking Dao","spreading Dao",which is a mutually enhancing and cyclical process.The study aims to provide a new Chinese perspective for the in-depth interpretation of the Standards,as well as injecting a new impetus of cultural self-consciousness and cultural self-confidence into the development of international Chinese language education,so as to nourish the professional development of international Chinese teachers with"Dao",better facilitate the promotion and im-plementation of the Standards,and promote the high-quality and connotative development of international Chinese education.
