The Mobility of Hunan Migrants in Xishuangbanna and Coordinated Development across Regions
Migration studies,under the"new mobilities paradigm",focus on the dynamic phenomena and practical experience between the mi-grant export region and import region,during the migration process,as well as the multiple social relationships expanded in the process of migration,with a particular focus on the emotional experience,cultural identity and responsibility concept of groups and individuals.The Hunan migrants who mi-grated to Xishuangbanna,Yunnan province to support border construction in the fifties and sixties of the 20th century,and the new Hunan migrants who migrated to Xishuangbanna spontaneously since the 21st century,driven by the economy,commuted between Yunnan and their hometown in Hu-nan province in a way of mobility in terms of education,social organizations,ancestor sacrifice and so forth.These mobility practices and the wider so-cial network connections and cultural interactions they generate are the results of the spatio-temporal expansion of migrants'"simultaneous participa-tion"between the migrant export region and import region,and have given an important impetus to the coordinated development of border areas and mainland.
