Effects of UV-B Stress on Defense Enzyme Activity and Malondialdehyde Content in Pepper Leaves
In order to screen ultraviolet-resistant UV-B pepper varieties and help the development of pepper industry in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the effects of different UV-B(20.05 μW/cm2)stress times on the activities of peroxidase(POD),catalase(CAT),superoxide dismutase(SOD)and malondialdehyde(MDA)in pepper leaves were studied in this experiment, which were used as materials to study the character-istic varieties Qingjiao 3,Xunhua Xianjiao,Ganke-2-11 and Jixiang 101 varieties in Qinghai Province. The results showed that with the extension of UV-B stress time, the activities of POD,CAT and SOD increased first and then decreased, reaching the maximum on the second and third days of treatment, while the content of malondialdehyde(MDA)increased first, then decreased and then increased, reaching the maximum on the second and fourth days of experimental treatment, respectively.Based on the above four indexes, the member-ship function analysis showed that the ultraviolet tolerance of the four pepper varieties was Qingjiao No.3>Xunhua line pepper>Ganke-2-11>Jixiang 101,so it was speculated that Qingjiao No.3 was a pepper va-riety with strong ultraviolet resistance and was suitable for planting in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
