Faunal Analysis of Formicidae Insects in Wumeng Mountain Nature Reserve of Yunnan
The fauna of Formicidae Insects in Wumeng Mountain Nature Reserve was investigated through the methods of plot-sampling and faunal analysis in this article.A total of 136 species,45 genera and 7 subfamilies of ants were discovered in the nature reserve.The ant fauna has typical characteristics of Oriental Region at genus level,closely related to the Palearctic Region.At species level,the ant fauna of the nature reserve has typical characteristics of the Orient Region,most closely related to the Palearctic Region.In the zoogeographical zones of China,the ant fauna of the nature reserve has typical characteristics of Southwest China Zone,most closely related to the Central China Zone,and has the farthest relationship with Xinjiang-Inner Mongolia Zone.In world zoogeographical regions,the Orient-Palearctic common species are dominant in the nature reserve.In the zoogeographical zones of China,the Southwest China-South China-Central China common species are dominant.The ant species richness and their faunal character in Wumeng Mountain Nature Reserve are closely related to its geographical location and geomorphological features.The ant fauna of the nature reserve is different from other nature reserves in Yunnan Province.
