Impact of greening and ecological protection projects in Xining on residents of surrounding cities:based on the KAP theoretical model
As the primary beneficiaries of environmental functions, urban residents play a decisive role in environmental protection, resource conservation, and building harmonious development between humans and nature through their attitudes and behaviors. This article takes the survey questionnaire data of the North South Mountain Greening and Ecological Protection Project in Xining City as an example, based on the KAP theory model, explores the impact of ecological protection project implementation on surrounding urban residents from three aspects:knowledge(K),attitude(A),and behavior(P).The re-sults showed that:(1)The analysis shows that there is a significant positive correlation between the eco-logical protection behavior(P)of residents in the study area and their basic concept cognition, surrounding environment cognition(A),and environmental attitude(K),with correlation coefficients of 0.153 and 0.349,respectively.However,there is no significant level of correlation between K and A.(2)Regression analysis reveals that at a significant level of 0.05,gender,age,and occupational category have no signifi-cant impact on residents'ecological protection behavior in Model 4.At a level of 0.01,income level is posi-tively correlated with ecological protection behavior.(3)Environmental attitudes directly affect the protec-tion behavior of residents towards the ecological environment in the project area, that is,individual atti-tudes can influence behavioral decisions. It is recommended to implement differentiated education methods for different social groups, strengthen education efforts, and enhance the knowledge level and moral quality of the public. The government and relevant departments should also establish strict management systems to constrain behaviors that may damage the environment, while cultivating citizens'spontaneous awareness of ecological protection. The research conclusion provides reference for the government and en-vironmental management departments to formulate scientific and reasonable environmental protection poli-cies and effective management measures.
