摘要
英语习语是语言文化的结晶，生动形象，言简意赅，文化信息负载量大，且常有“言外之意”。如果不懂习语的文化背景，就很难准确地理解和运用习语。水果习语是英语语言中的一种独特表达方式，广泛地被英美国家的人们所接受和使用，且具有一定的文化内涵。本文主要从希腊神话、基督教的圣经和英美民族的日常生活方面探讨了跟水果有关的英语习语的历史溯源和习惯用法，以此来加深对英美民族文化的了解，提高跨文化的语言交际能力。
Abstract
English language contains a lot of idioms denoting fruits, which are the gems of English and gradually have got their connotations as time goes by. The author of this paper concentrates on the origin of some fruit idioms and their stories from three as- pects： Greek mythology, Bible and their specific daily life.
