In this study,11 healthy growing and developing Bamei boars, aged from 1.5 to 2.5 year-old were selected to collect semen by conventional methods, and their semen quality was evaluated and analyzed. The results showed that the semen color of 11 experimental pigs was milky white or light gray with a slight fishy smell, the aver-age ejaculation volume of boars was(117.34±43.27)ml,the average sperm motility was 65.02%±4.26%,and the average sperm density was(1.52±0.7)×108per milliliter. After thawing, the sperm motility was≥35%,and the sperm deformity rate was≤20%.The correlation analysis of semen quality characteristics revealed that, there was no significant correlation among semen volume, sperm motility and sperm density(p>0.05).After evaluation, the sperm viability of one of the boars was not up to standard, and the semen of the remaining 10 boars met the national standard requirements and could be frozen and stored as resources.
