Effects of Lactobacillus Acidophilus and Artemisia ArgyiExtract on Growth Performance Slaughter Performance and Meat Quality of Broilers
In order to provide a basis for finding antibiotic substitutes and developing and utilizing mugwort leaf resources in broiler diets, the effects of dietary supplementation of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Mugwort leaf ex-tracts on growth performance, slaughter performance and meat quality of broilers were studied.240 1-day-old healthy AA broilers were randomly divided into 4 groups with 5 replicates in each group and 12 broilers in each rep-licate.The control group was fed with basic diet without adding Artemisia argyi extract and Lactobacillus acidophi-lus preparation.Group A was fed with 0.2%extract of Folium Artemisiae Argyi, while Group B was fed with 4.2×108 cfu/g Lactobacillus acidophilus.Group C was fed with basal diet supplemented with 0.2%Artemisia arg-yi extract and 4.2×108 cfu/g Lactobacillus acidophilus preparation. The experiment was conducted for 84 days. The results showed that the terminal weight and average daily feed intake of group C were significantly higher than those of control group, group A and group B(P<0.05).The feedto gain ratio of group B and C was significantly lower than that of control group and group A(P<0.05).The eviscerated yield of group A,B and C was signifi-cantly higher than that of control group(P<0.05),and the abdominal fat rate of group C was significantly lower than that of group A and B(P<0.05).The red value of meat color in groups A,B and C was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The water loss rate of group C was significantly lower than that of con-trol group and group A(P<0.05).To sum up,adding Lactobacillus acidophilus and Folium Artemisiae Argyi ex-tract can improve the growth performance, slaughter performance and carcass quality of broilers, and the effect of mixed addition of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Folium Artemisiae Argyi extract is better than that of single addi-tion.
