Influence of pressing process on the pore structure of foamed aluminum prepared by powder metallurgy method
Using AlSi powder as the matrix and TiH2 as the foaming agent, foamed aluminum was prepared through cold pressing and hot pressing powder metallurgy processes in the study. The impact of cold pressing stress and hot pressing temperatures on the precursor relative density and pore structure of foamed aluminum was analyzed. It was found that raising both the cold pressing stress and hot pressing temperature improved precursor relative density. However, once the cold pressing stress exceeded 400 MPa,no significant improvement was noted in the foamed aluminum's pore structure, expansion ratio or porosity.Increasing the hot pressing temperature led to the production of Al-Si eutectic phase, achieving a stabilized foam structure.Foamed alumi-num with a good pore structure and a porosity of 81.7%was produced at a hot pressing temperature of 450℃.
