PVC is widely used because of its low cost and versatility.The free radical poly-merization technology has been widely applied in the production of PVC industry.With the in-creasingly fierce competition in the PVC market,high-quality and general-purpose PVC with low irritating odor,high plasticizer absorption rate and high thermal stability is more popular in the market.Precipitation polymerization can avoid the use of dispersants and obtain PVC resin with special properties.Reversible deactivated radical polymerization technology has gained ex-tensive attention in recent years for its potential application prospects,including reversible addi-tion-broken chain transfer polymerization,atom transfer radical polymerization and nitrogen-oxygen stabilized radical polymerization,etc.In this paper,the recent research progress of vi-nyl chloride polymerization both domestically and internationally is reviewed in terms of free rad-ical polymerization and reversible deactivated radical polymerization,and suggestions for the de-velopment of PVC are proposed.
