行走在"孔子之城"——近代来华西人的曲阜书写及对孔庙"神圣空间"的认知和解读

摘要
在中国历史上,孔子故里曲阜一直被视为"圣地",近代以降亦受到来华西人的极大关注.随着《天津条约》《北京条约》等不平等条约的签订,越来越多西人来到中国内地传教,开启前往曲阜的"朝圣"之旅.在此过程中,他们基于自身的知识储备和宗教背景去看待和解读所见所闻,不可避免地带有强烈的他者视角.尤其围绕祀孔之地孔庙,他们大多记录了对这一中国式"神圣空间"的描述和感悟.行走在"孔子之城"的来华西人,近距离观察曲阜,深层次解析孔庙,一定程度上推进了当时西方社会对圣地曲阜及孔子的认识.这些旅行纪闻,既引发了西人对孔子的尊崇感,也促使其反思孔子和儒学在中国的地位与影响,为我们多方位认知孔子提供了丰富视角.
Abstract
As the hometown of Confucius,Qufu in Shandong Province has always been viewed as a"holy land"in Chinese history,and therefore caused great attention from Western visitors in the Late Qing Dynasty and Repub-lican China.Since the Treaty of Tientsin and the Convention of Peking allowed westerners to enter interior land of China,they embarked on"pilgrimage"trips to Qufu.In this process,westerners inevitably approached and interpre-ted their Qufu experience based on their knowledge reserves and religious background,inevitably with a strong per-spective of otherness.Especially as for the Confucius Temple,the place where Confucius is worshiped,most of them recorded their descriptions and perceptions of this Chinese"sacred space".Close observation and in-depth in-sights from westerners visiting the"City of Confucius",to a certain extent,promoted Western society to understand the holy land of Qufu and Confucius at that time.These travel writings did not only enhance their veneration for Confucius,but also triggered their reflection on the status and influence of Confucius and Confucianism in China,providing us with a multi-pronged perspectives for understanding Confucius.
