Application of PDCA in the Management of Cardiovascular Catheter-related Bloodstream Infections
Objective:To evaluate the application effect of PDCA management tool in the prevention and control of central vascular catheter-related bloodstream infections. Methods:Based on the central vascular catheter-related bloodstream infection rates of medical institutions at the same level in this province and region in the previous year and in the past three years, the target value of the thousand day central vascular catheter-related bloodstream infection rate for this medical institution in 2022 is set to be≤0.24 ‰.According to the"2021 Guidelines for the Prevention and Control of Vascular Catheter Related Infections"issued by the Nation-al Health Commission, through current situation analysis,it was found that the inadequate implementation of blood flow infection control measures related to central vascular catheters in this medical institution is due to the lack of careful hand hygiene during catheterization, failure to implement maximum sterile laying during catheter-ization,and failure to evaluate whether catheters are retained on a daily basis.Intervention and control measures are proposed for these three items, and the implementation status is monitored and evaluated. Results:The thousand day infection rate of central vascular catheter-related bloodstream infections in 2022 was 0.14 ‰,meeting the expected target; The provision rate of non hand touch hand disinfection facilities in the department of placement management has increased from 0%to 100%;The maximum sterile laying utilization rate has in-creased from 20.76%to 88.14%;The evaluation rate of extubation has increased from 0%before the project was launched to 63.45%.Conclusion:By using the PDCA management tool for blood flow infection prevention and control, the target infection rate can be achieved, the implementation rate of prevention and control meas-ures in medical institutions can be improved, and the safety of patients can be ensured, which is worthy of clini-cal promotion.
