Characteristics of Medication in the Treatment of Migraine by Qiu Changlin
Objective:To summarize the medication characteristics and academic viewpoints of Professor Qiu Changlin in the treatment of migraine.Methods:By reviewing relevant traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)literature,following Professor Qius clinical practice,and collating medical case records,the etiology and pathogenesis of migraine as well as Professor Qiu's treatment strategies and medication characteristics were summarized.An illustrative case was presented to demonstrate clinical application.Results:Professor Qiu be-lieves that wind,phlegm,and blood stasis are the primary pathogenic factors in migraine.The fundamental pathogenesis of migraine lies in blood stasis blocking the meridians,resulting in pain due to obstruction.In treatment,Professor Qiu focuses on"activating blood circulation and nourishing blood,dispelling wind,and promoting collaterals"based on syndrome differentiation and treatment.In clinical practice,he skillfully utilizes Siwu Tang(Four Ingredients Decoction),adeptly employs insect-derived medicines,and flexibly applies me-ridian-guiding drugs to ensure that the medications reach the affected areas,dispelling pathogens without inju-ring the body's vital qi.Conclusion:Professor Qiu Changlin's distinctive medication characteristics in the treat-ment of migraine,accompanied by outstanding clinical efficacy,are worthy of promotion.
