Seven Asymmetric Behavioral Characteristics in the Caijia Population of Guizhou
Objective:To investigate the distribution characteristics and genetic associations of seven asymmetric behavioral characteristics among the Caijia people in Guizhou Province. Methods:Using universally recognized genetic survey methods,a study was conducted on 420 Caijia individuals(212 males and 208 fe-males)residing in Dafang and Zhijin counties,Guizhou Province,to investigate seven asymmetric behavioral characteristics:handclasping, hand preference, foot preference, eye dominance, arm crossing, leg crossing, and starting step pattern. Results:The prevalence of right-sidedness for all seven asymmetric behavioral char-acteristics was higher than left-sidedness among the Caijia people in Guizhou, and no statistically significant differences were observed between genders(P>0.05).Correlations were found between hand preference and foot preference, eye dominance, leg crossing, and starting step pattern;between foot preference and leg crossing, starting step pattern;between eye dominance and arm crossing;between arm crossing and starting step pattern;and between leg crossing and starting step pattern(P<0.05).Conclusion:The right-sidedness dominates in all seven asymmetric behavioral characteristics among the Caijia people in Guizhou, with no signifi-cant gender differences. There exist genetic associations among these characteristics.
