Clinical Study on the Treatment of Chronic Atrophic Gastritis with Self-formulated Chaihu-Xiangfu Prescription
Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy, safety, and effectiveness of the self-formulated Chaihu-Xiang-fu prescription devised by Professor Li Pei in treating chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG)with liver stagnation, spleen deficiency, and damp-heat syndrome. Methods:A total of 50 patients with CAG(liver stagnation, spleen deficiency, and damp-heat syn-drome)who visited our hospital from May 2021 to October 2022 were selected as the study subjects. They were treated with the Chaihu-Xiangfu prescription with modifications. The traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores, endoscopic findings, histopathological efficacy, safety indicators, and the occurrence of adverse reactions before and after treatment were compared. Results:The total effective rate of treatment was 92%.Endoscopic and pathological evaluations before and after treatment showed significant reductions in chronic inflammation and atrophy scores(P<0.05).Paired t-tests on TCM syndrome scores before and after treatment revealed significant reductions in epigastric pain,epi-gastric distension, acid regurgitation, belching, and total TCM syndrome scores(P<0.05),while heartburn did not show significant difference(P>0.05).No adverse events occurred during medication. Conclusion:The Chaihu-Xiangfu prescription significantly improves symptoms in patients with CAG with liver stagnation, spleen deficiency, and damp-heat syndrome, repairs lesioned gastric mucosa, and is effective and safe for use.
