The Historiography of Works on the Mongolian Grasslands of Southern Desert and Northern Desert in the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries:Focusing on the Orthodox Historical View and Its Changes
The writing of Mongolian grassland history of the Southern Desert and Northern Desert in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries was closely related to the politics of the Qing Dynasty,especially the changes in Manchu-Mongolian relations.Compared with the Mongolian Chronicles of the seventeenth century,the influence from Tibetan Buddhism and Tibetan historiography was weakened,while the influence from mainland culture and historiography increased significantly.The"Genghis Khan-Kublai Khan system orthodox"historical view was loosened,and instead,they tend to hold a relatively broad"Golden Family Orthodox"view of history.Both historical views,as well as the Buddhist view of kingship significantly weakened.Its text themes,narratives,genres,and themes.which were closely related to the historical outlook,also changed accordingly while chronicling the history.The text clearly affirmed the legitimacy of the Qing Dynasty.Its historical writing and its changes also reflected the continuous strengthening of Mongolian national identity and the in-depth development of a unified multi-ethnic country in the Qing Dynasty.
