Issues on the Tribes of Eastern Mongolia Grazing in the Ji-Liao District:Studises on the Interactions between Northeastern Asia Ethnic Groups and the Rise of Manchu
In the 25th year of the Jiajing reign(1546),the various tribes of Eastern Mongolia partitioned the Three Weis of Duo Yan and established their pastures beyond the Ji-Liao borders of the Ming dynasty. The underlying cause of this partition was the enfeoffment of Bodi Khan, the Northern Yuan Mongol Khan,to his sons and nephews prior to his death. The Chahar tribe of Eastern Mongolia and the Khorchin tribe of Right-Wing Mongolia partitioned the Duo Yan Wei,while the Inner Khalkha tribe subjugated the Tai Ning Wei and, together with the Nen Khorchin tribe, partitioned the Fu Yu Wei.These Eastern Mongolian tribes, grazing in the Ji and Liao regions, directly confronted the Ming army, precipitating significant upheaval in the Liaodong area. This turmoil subsequently created favorable conditions for the rise of Manchu.
