摘要
18世纪末,英俄两国由于积极寻求对外扩张而产生利益冲突,竞争态势日益显露.1791年,英国政府决定派遣马戛尔尼使团前往中国.使团在策划之初就表现出与俄国竞争的意味,在筹划过程中还与俄国发生了直接的交集,来自俄国的信息也对使团的行动产生了影响.有关英国使团访华的消息很快传到了俄国,俄国政府为保护自身在华利益,积极采取措施力图阻碍英国使团计划的成功.英俄两国围绕马戛尔尼使团的一系列行动表明马戛尔尼使团访华并不仅仅是中英之间的外交事件,还牵涉到英俄两国在远东地区的竞争态势,而这也在某种程度上成为19世纪英俄"大博弈"的前奏.
Abstract
At the end of the eighteenth century,conflicts of interest arose between Britain and Russia due to their active pursuit of external expansion,and the competitive relations became increasingly apparent.In 1791,the British government decided to send the Macartney Mission to China.At the beginning of its planning,the Mission showed a sense of competition with Russia,and during the planning process,it also had a direct interaction with Russia.Information from Russia also had an impact on the Mission's actions.The news of the British Mission's visit to China quickly spread to Russia,and the Russian government actively took measures to prevent the success of the British Mission's plan to protect its own interests in China.The series of actions taken by Britain and Russia around the Macartney Mission indicate that the Macartney Mission's visit to China was not only a diplomatic event between China and Britain but also involved the competition between Britain and Russia in the Far East,which to some extent became a prelude to the"Great Game"between Britain and Russia in the nineteenth century.
