Origins and Cultural Interactions of the Yi ethnic cultural circle in Southwestern China
In comparison with China's Central Plain culture, this paper investigates the origins, histories, and cultural interaction patterns of the Yi ethnic cultural circle in southwestern China. The cultural interactions between the Yi ethnic cultural circle in southwestern China and China's Central Plain cultural circle have a long history and profound impacts, leading to the integration of cultures of different ethnic circles, which has never changed, that is,the Chinese nation as a cultural community consists of multiple but integrated components, which were established and developed from the same origin.Such cultural integration laid a solid cultural foundation for the development of subsequent dynasties and states in southwestern China.A systematic study on such cultural integration may provide a new perspective and method for investigating the cultural interactions when other ethnic groups in border areas were integrated into the Chinese national community and can provide cultural support for exploring the establishment of the consciousness of the Chinese national community in the border areas of southwestern China since ancient times.
