The construction of a modern nation-state and a community for the Chinese nation are two facets of the same process as China moves toward modernization.The Communist Party of China(CPC)has always been committed to modernizing a unified multi-ethnic country.The history of the Chinese nation indicates that the construction of a modern nation-state necessarily requires a high degree of unity between the construction of the community for the Chinese nation and that of the modern nation-state.There is a logical relationship of mutual promotion between them;people-centered values are a common value pursuit;and the interactive dynamics form the basis for their mutual enhancement.Although the Chinese nation possesses substantial attributes,the"nation-state"concept rooted in Western historical and theoretical contexts cannot catalyze the"two constructions".Instead,the construction of modern Chinese civilization serves as the intersection for the"two constructions",with deepening reforms acting as a common driver.The unfolding of this inter-construction logic provides new perspectives for building the community for the Chinese nation and offers new intellectual resources for exploring practical paths toward its construction.
