蒋廷黻对近代中日关系史的研究,是其在中国近代外交史领域的重要贡献之一.具体而言,蒋廷黻基于对外交史料的重视,推动了近代中日关系史料的发掘与整理;把握与引领学术前沿,对《六十年来中国与日本》等著作进行学术评介;探索以朝鲜问题和东北问题为核心议题的近代中日关系史的学术化书写,强调"近代化"对于中日关系的重要性,并从东亚变局出发阐释甲午战争划时代的影响.蒋廷黻从近代中日关系史和两国历史对比出发,揭示了日本军国主义的历史根源及其必败命运,并提出了中国抗战的国际战略.
Abstract
Tsiang Tingfu's research on the history of modern Sino-Japanese relations was one of his significant contributions to modern Chinese diplomatic history.Specifically,his attention and high sensitivity to historical materials facilitated the exploration and editing of the materials.Furthermore,he had been leading in shaping the academic discourse with academic reviews on books such as China and Japan over the Past Sixty Years.By focusing on key issues related to the North Korea and Northeast China,he emphasized the pivotal role of"modernization"in Sino-Japanese relations and explained the epoch-making influence of the first Sino-Japanese War within East Asia.Based on the history of modern Sino-Japanese relations and a comparative analysis of both countries'histories,Tsiang Tingfu unveiled the historical origins of Japanese militarism and its doomed fate while proposing China's international strategy in its war of resistance against Japanese aggression.
