Abstract
With the outbreak of the Battle of Shanghai,a Japanese artilleryman named Nagai Jinzo landed in Shanghai with his unit and then advanced towards Nanjing.While in Shanghai,he witnessed the Japanese soldiers killing Chinese civilians After the Japanese army occupied Nanjing,he also witnessed the atrocities committed by the Japanese army against Chinese prisoners of war.After the war,He compiled a more detailed memoir based on his wartime field diaries,which has become valuable historical materials for the further study of Nanjing Massacre.In addition,after the Japanese surrender,Nagai Jinzo secretly brought with him photos of the scene of the Nanjing Massacre when he was repatriated to Japan.By analyzing his field diaries,memoirs and photos of the scene of the Nanjing Massacre,the historical truth of the Nanjing Massacre can be further revealed.
