Variations of seed morphology and germination percentages of different producing area of Dalbergia cochinchinensis Pierre
The variations between seed morphology and sowing quality of different producing area of Dalbergia cochinchinensis seeds were studied elite germplasm to provide a foundiation for genetic improvement on D. cochinchinensi. We studied the shapes and germination of D. cochinchinensis seeds belonging to 10 prove-nances collected from Thailand, Cambodia and China. The results showed that its seed length ranged from 6.09mm to 7.19mm,the range of seed width is 3.84mm to 4.28mm, the seed thickness varied between 0.98mm and 1.19mm and 1000-seed-weight ranged from 20.68g to 33.76g. The highest germination rate was T-KI provenance with 87% and the least was T-PP provenance with 39%. Person correlation analysis showed that seed germination had a negative correlation with seed morphology characters, suggesting that seed size and seed plumpness maybe a factors affecting seed germination.
