Study on Vegetation Types and Community Characteristics of Natural Forests in the Traditional Settlement Area of Li nationality in Hainan
In this study,we quantified and analysed the community structure, species composition and diversity based on field surveys in four typical Li traditional settlements in Hainan(Hongshui Village,Wangxia Town-ship,Changjiang City.Echa Village and Baicha Village,Jiangbian Township,Dongfang City. And Chubao Vil-lage,Maoyang Township,Wuzhishan Mountain),in order to grasp the basic characteristics of the natural forest communities in the traditional Li settlements. The results showed that the natural forest vegetation in Baicha Village was partridge hemp Kleinhovia hospita & Taxotrophis taxoides, with a relatively simple stand structure and a low level of species diversity. The natural forest in Chubao Village is the Litsea variabilis & Castanopsis hainanensis group, with the most complex stand structure and high species diversity. The natural forest in Echa Village is the Taxotrophis zeylanica & Koilodepas hainanense group, which has the simplest stand structure and the highest level of species diversity. The natural forest in Hongshui Village is a Taxotrophis ilicifolia com-munity,which belongs to the mono-eugenic community, with the simplest stand structure and the lowest level of species diversity. The results of this study show that the vegetation of natural forests in different Li tribal areas is characterised by obvious dominant species and simple community structure, which is distinct from typical tropi-cal rainforests.Furthermore there are obvious differences in the vegetation types, community structure and di-versity of natural forests in different Li tribal areas. The above findings can help to formulate scientific forest land conservation and utilisation plans for the natural forests in the traditional Li tribal areas.
