The Characteristics of Understory Plants Flora and Diversity of Pinus caribaea Plantation in Hainan Island
To understand the characteristics of understory plant diversity and flora in the inus caribaea planta-tion of Hainan Island and provide a scientific basis for further interpretation of the ecosystem and management of inus caribaea plantation, quadrats with a total area of 9 500m2 were instituted within Hainan Island.Ex-panding upon a comprehensive survey of inus caribaea plantation, the research focused on analyzing species composition, geographic composition, and the characteristics of understory species diversity and distribution ac-cording to different topographic factors in the designated areas. The survey indicated that:(1)the understory plant of inus caribaea Plantation in Hainan Island was rich in species diversity, composed of 102 families,314 genera, and 510 specie, which comprised 12 families,18 genera, and 39 species of ferns,1 family,1 genus, and 2 species of gymnosperms, and 89 families,295 genera, and 469 species of angiosperms(including 14 families,52 genera, and 73 species of monocots, and 75 families,243 genera, and 396 species of dicots). The dominant families were apparent, but the dominant genus and species were obscure;(2)The understory plant had exten-sive phytogeographic associations, with an obvious pattern of tropical distribution and containing 3 endemic genera Oligostachyum,Trema, and Semiliquidambar;(3)The understory plant diversity of the inus caribaea plantationwas jointly affected by different topographic factors, and the diversity index of each species was higher at altitude of 600m≤~<800m,the slope of 10° ≤~<20°,and the sunny or the half-sunny slopes.
