Research Progress of Barringtonia racemosa-An Endangered Mangrove Plant
This study reviewed the research progress of the endangered semimangrove plant--Barringtonia racemosa, including aspects of physiological and biochemical reactions, ecological environments and distribu-tion,and chemical components elements. The physiological and biochemical study explored the physiological responses of B.racemosa to salt stress and tidal inundation stress and analyzed the suitable living environment for B.racemosa under different flooding and salinity stresses.Ecological and distribution surveys focused on the distribution of B.racemosa in the Leizhou Peninsula of Guangdong, evaluating the ecological disturbances and potential ecological losses faced by B.racemosa communities.Chemical component research identified certain compounds of B.racemosa.These studies provide a scientific basis for understanding the adaptive mechanisms and ecological conservation of B.racemosa and also suggest the potential applications of the species as an ornamental plant. However, current research on B.racemosa is not sufficiently comprehensive, especially in the areas of chemical composition and seedling growth, which requires further in-depth research.
