Prevention and Control of Cassytha filiformis in Clonal Seed Orchard of Phoebe Bournei
In order to explore the application of different concentrations of bentazone and bentazone sodium salt solution in controlling Cassytha filiformis and the phytotoxicity on the leaves of Michelia macclurei, this experiment compared the withered rates of vines of C.filiformis and leaves of M.macclurei under four treat-ments(spraying a solution of 0.5%bentazone,0.5%bentazone sodium salt,1.0%bentazone,and 1.0%benta-zone sodium salt). The results showed that all the solutions effectively controlled C.filiformis and were phyto-toxic for leaves of M.macclurei to a certain extent.Meanwhile, there were significant differences between the withered rates under four treatments,in which 1.0%bentazone sodium salt solution was most effective for C.fil-iformis controlling(100%of withered vines)and least harmful for leaves of M.macclurei(11.41%of withered leaves).Based on this study,it was suggested that in M.macclurei seed orchards,an adequate control efficiency of C.filiformis could be reached by spraying 1.0%bentazone sodium salt solution for one month.
