Seasonal Dynamics of Leaf Nutrients in Seven Species in Jianfengling Area,Hainan Island
This study aimed to investigate the seasonal dynamics of leaf nutrient content in seven typical species in the Jianfengling area in Hainan Island.Given the sensitivity of leaf nutrient content to environmental changes, leaves were analyzed for five major nutrient elements in spring and winter, including nitrogen,phos-phorus,potassium,calcium,and magnesium. The results showed that the leaf nutrient contents of different tree species varied with seasons, among which the nitrogen of Heteropanax fragrans,Litsea glutinosa,Talipariti tiliaceum,Casuarina equisetifolia, and Psychotria asiatica increased in the winter compared to the spring when that of Garcinia oblongifolia and Cocos nucifera decreased.Phosphorus content showed a decreasing trend in G.oblongifolia and L.glutinosa, and potassium content increased in T.tiliaceum and C.equisetifolia.Calcium content increased in H.fragrans,C.nucifera,L.glutinosa,C.equisetifolia,and P.asiatica, while it decreased in G.oblongifolia and T.tiliaceum.Magnesium content increased in most tree species and decreased only in L.glutinosa.This study provides important insights into seasonal changes in nutrient cycling in tropical forest e-cosystems and provides a scientific basis for forest nutrient management and ecological conservation.
