Survey of Birds and Mammals Diversity in the Yunji Mountain Provincial Nature Reserve,Xinfeng,Guangdong
From May 2022 to March 2023,80 infrared camera traps with a total working day of 20,705 were set up in the Yunji Mountain Provincial Nature Reserve in Xinfeng County,Guangdong.A total of 14,881 inde-pendent photos were collected, from which 63 wild bird and mammal species belonging to 12 orders and 29 families were identified. For the index of relative abundance, the top five mammal species were Melogale moschata,Muntiacus reevesi,Sus scrofa,Paguma larvata, and Tamiops maritimus, and the top five bird species were Lophura nycthemera,Myophonus caeruleus,Zoothera aurea,Bambusicola thoracicus, and Tur-dus hortulorum. The monthly activity rhythm analysis results were consistent with those from other literature. There were no significant differences in the number and relative abundance index of mammal species across different altitudes and habitat types. In terms of bird species, the number and the relative abundance index were significantly divergent at different altitudes, while at different habitat types, only the relative abundance index showed a significant difference. The results provided reliable data support and guidance in the Yunji Mountain Nature Reserve for biodiversity management and long-term dynamic monitoring.
