Species Diversity of Small Mammals in Dachouding Provincial Nature Reserve,Huaiji,Guangdong Province
In order to clarify the fauna and diversity of small mammals in the Dachouding provincial nature re-serve in Huaiji,Guangdong province,the snap-trap method with a total of 980 traps was set in 15 sampling sites in various habitats in the reserve to investigate Rodentia and Eulpotyphla animals.A total of 58 individuals were trapped in the reserve,and one Rattus norvegicus was collected near sampling site 15.There was no species of Eulpotyphla were captured while obtaining six species of Rodentia belonging to four genera and one family.Based on historical data,field investigation,and infrared camera monitoring,14 rodent species from 5 families and 3 species of Eulptyphla from 2 families were recorded.A total of 18 bat species,belonging to 6 genera and 3 families,were investigated by daily habitat survey,night habitat survey,and mist netting,in which Rhinolopidae accounted for 16.7%,Hipposideridae for 11.1%,and Vespertilionidae for 72.2% .The dominant species were the Rhinolophus sinicus and Hipposideros larvatus.Meanwhile,all the 18 species of bats were insect-eating bats.
