Sugarcane is an important crop for the production of sugar and renewable bioenergy in the world.The cross-breeding status of sugarcane in China is briefly introduced in this paper.And the research progress on sugarcane transgenic breeding at home and abroad is summarized,including insect resistance,disease resistance,herbicide resistance,drought resistance,use as bioreactors,increase of sucrose content and improving of cane sugar color.
