Research Progress in Mutation Breeding of Sugarcane
The present situations and methods of sugarcane breeding were described with an emphasis on sugarcane mutation breeding. The advantages and disadvantages of physical and chemical mutation and their application in sugarcane breeding were compared. The current problems of sugarcane mutation breeding in China were also analyzed, based on which some suggestions were put forward to provide a reference for developing sugarcane varieties with high yield and high quality for sugarcane sustainable development and upgrading of the local economy.
