Rapid Propagation of Stahlianthus involucratus via in Vitro Culture of Young Rhizomes
Young rhizomes of Stahlianthus involucratus were used as explants for tissue culture.Media for bud inducing, subculture and rooting were screened to establish a rapid propagation system based on young rhizomes of S. involucratus. The results showed that the optimum medium was MS+6-BA 3.0 mg/L+NAA 0.10 mg/L+3% sucrose+carrageenan powder 9.5 g/L+10% coconut water for inducing of adventitious buds, MS+6-BA 5.0 mg/L+NAA 0.10 mg/L+3% sucrose+carrageenan powder 9.5 g/L+10% coconut water for subculture, and MS+NAA 0.10 mg/L+3% sucrose+carrageenan powder 9.5 g/L+10% mashed banana + activated carbon 1.0 g/L for rooting. The optimum medium for transplanting of the rooted plantlets was the mixture of imported peat, red soil and humus soil.
