Affecting Factors of Cutting Propagation of Ruellia chartacea
Ruellia chartacea has high ornamental value and was introduced and cultivated in a few botanical gardens. It is acarpous during the introduction and cultivation periods.Factors affecting cutting propagation are the basis for improving breeding efficiency. An orthogonal test was conducted by four factors:substrate, cut part, plant growth regulator type, and concentration, with four levels of each factor.Through 16 experimental treatments, the data on five indexes, rooting rate, number of first-order roots, length of long-est first-order roots, fresh weight of roots, and fresh weight of new leaves were studied using range, variance, and multiple compari-sons.The results showed that the cutting substrate was the main factor affecting the length of the longest first-order root;the influ-ence of the cutting part on each index was very significant(p<0.01);the cutting part was the main factor affecting the rooting rate, the number of first-order roots, the fresh weight of roots and the fresh weight of new leaves;and the influence of the plant growth regulator type and concentration on the rooting rate and number of first-order roots was very significant(p<0.01).Based on the analysis,in the production practice, the middle and basal cutting parts are preferred as cuttings, and selecting perlite as the cutting substrate with the plant growth regulator ABT 300 mg·L-1 can achieve a good cutting effect. The results of this study can be used as guidance for large-scale cutting propagation of R.chartacea.
