Synergistic Effect of Coconut Semi-rotten Stem Extracts on the Aggregation Pheromone of Oryctes rhinoceros
To improve the efficiency of the use of an aggregation pheromone and provide a reference for the physical control strategy of O.rhinoceros, the nonadult development sites of the O.rhinoceros were investigated, and the synergistic effects of the coconut semi-rotten stem extracts on O.rhinoceros aggregation pheromones were studied.Different stages of O.rhinoc-eros infection were found in eight places, including palm rotten stems, sawdust piles, coconut coir, manure mixtures,etc.Us-ing coconut semi-rotten stems as a raw material for extraction, methanol and ethanol had the highest educt extract rates of 13.11%and 11.66%among the solvents tested and the volatile extraction rate by hydrodistillation was 0.03%.Among the treatments with different solvent extracts, the educt of petroleum ether trapped the highest number of adults was 3.33.The average number of insects trapped by volatiles was 8.67.The addition of volatiles significantly increased the trapping effect of aggregation pheromones on the total number of adults, for a 45.83%increase.The addition of educt extract and volatiles sig-nificantly increased the attraction effect of pheromones on female adults. The results provide a reference for the efficient ap-plication of O.rhinoceros aggregation pheromone and the research and development of related synergistic products.
